At the Amusement Park | 2 Complete ESL Lessons + Comparatives & Superlatives Review

This ready-to-teach unit takes students on a trip to the amusement park while giving them plenty of opportunities to talk, compare, describe, give opinions, read, role-play and use English in meaningful situations.

Students begin by exploring theme park rides and attractions, including roller coaster, Ferris wheel, waterslide, carousel, bumper cars, haunted house, drop tower, pirate ship and more. Vocabulary is introduced through visual flashcards and immediately developed into conversation with questions about students’ experiences, preferences and opinions.

The unit then moves beyond vocabulary into real communication and grammar revision. Students explore and compare theme parks around the world, use information cards and a comparison table, and practise comparative and superlative adjectives in context rather than through isolated grammar exercises.

The second part of the unit takes students to LEGOLAND, with a leaflet-based activity, a reading story, comprehension tasks, story sequencing and discussion. Students then continue using the language through role plays, discussion cards and Taboo, creating even more opportunities for spontaneous speaking.
