Ask Me a Question! | ESL Question Formation Practice Games & Activities

This resource is designed to give students plenty of meaningful practice asking, forming and answering questions in English through interactive games and speaking activities.

Rather than teaching question words or introducing question formation from the beginning, students take structures they have already learned and put them into practice. They unscramble questions, work backwards from answers to create the correct questions, match questions and answers, use question words to ask about different facts and topics, and respond to their classmates.

The package includes 5 different activities, including The Bomb, Spin a Question, Answer My Question, Find Your Answer and Forming Questions, giving students repeated practice without simply completing another grammar worksheet.

The activities recycle a wide range of structures, including present and past forms, future forms, modals, present perfect, WH- questions and yes/no questions, making the resource suitable for primary students as well as teens who already understand the basics but need more confidence and fluency when forming questions.

Important: This is a practice and review resource, not an introductory lesson on how to form questions. Students should already be familiar with basic question structures before using these activities.
