Five Little Pumpkins – Autumn ESL for Toddlers & Preschool | Numbers, Shapes & Feelings

A playful, hands-on autumn lesson pack created especially for very young English learners ages 2–5. Based around the simple and familiar Five Little Pumpkins song, this resource gives toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten children lots of opportunities to learn English through singing, counting, matching, movement and hands-on play.

The pack is organised into two ready-to-teach lessons and focuses on three age-appropriate learning areas: numbers and counting, shapes, and feelings.

Children practise numbers 1–10 through activities such as Feed the Pumpkin, counting and matching, missing numbers, Roll and Cover, number tracing, colouring and finger painting.

They also explore basic shapes through matching and clip-card activities, Spin and Cover and a fun Build a Jack-o’-Lantern activity where they create pumpkin faces using different shapes.

The second part of the pack introduces feelings through expressive pumpkin faces. Children identify how the pumpkins feel, count different feelings, complete patterns and create their own faces with playdough mats, making the language concrete and easy to understand.

The pack also includes Five Little Pumpkins song props, so children can act out and sing along with the song using the pumpkins and background provided.

A lovely choice for autumn/fall, pumpkin or Halloween-themed lessons when you want something seasonal but still purposeful and developmentally appropriate for very young learners.
